The following is a S.O.A.P. from Pastor Doug Irvin:
Title: "God’s Unexpected Provisions”
S – “When David had passed a little beyond the summit, Ziba… met him with a couple of donkeys saddled and loaded with 200 loaves of bread, 100 cakes of raisins, 100 cakes of figs and a skin of wine.” - 2 Samuel 16:1
O – King David had just left the capital city to run for his life. (Chapter 15:13-37) His son, Absalom, was attempting a revolt to become king. David left quickly and gathered as many men as he could. Yet there was no mention of provisions. As they traveled away from the city they came upon Ziba, waiting for them with provisions.
A – As I follow God’s lead I need to trust Him. He will do unexpected things. His provisions are greater than any need I will ever have, including physical, mental, spiritual and emotional. My focus is to follow God, so closely that my only alternative is to trust Him.
P – Help me to trust in you for all things at all times in my life. You can fulfill all my desires, and all my needs, but I must let you. I struggle to trust you because I am full of pride and self determination. The key for me is to see you in the unexpected: your provision for my life in an unexpected way.
