He's a good guy. Really.
"I don't go to your church regularly", he typed. "But I did come the last few weeks. I liked a lot of stuff about it, but I wonder if you are too edgy. It's good to have a teaching series on sex, but to be honest you were pretty raw in some of your teaching. And to have the audience recite the word "sucks"...well, that was over the line".
He is right. We are edgy - on purpose. But not for the sake of being edgy.
Our passion is to do everything possible to create an environment where a disconnected person can hear the message of Christ in a way that makes sense to them, to speak in their language. To be real. Yes, to be raw.
And we're gonna keep doing that.
For one thing, life sometimes does suck...and we can't really get how great the hope of Christ is until we are real about that.
For another, we're doing what God has called us to do in the way He has called us to do it. And we will never, ever back off of that.
Ever.
So we will continue to be edgy, raw, perhaps a bit controversial.
All to connect the disconnected.

I find it sad that someone could lose the wonderful message because of couple of words. That's what is so great about our church. Our pastors tell it like it is.. and that's it. They are real and are real with us. This is why my family are members here and will continue to give and serve because I need to have someone be real with me and not sugar coat the truth. My relationship with Christ has is deepened because of the messages given by our pastors.
Keep up the good work.

if you can't be real in church, where can you be?
