The Ballantyne Campus of Next Level Church is launching in one month. A preview service Feb. 3rd and the big launch on Feb. 10th.
It's that soon.
And I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about it. I have had the privelege of attending a number of interest meetings for the NLC Ballantyne campus and I've seen a preliminary list of people who have already stepped up, committed, and said, "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to reach my neighbors in Ballantyne. Count me in!" Robbie McLaughlin-the Next Level Ballantyne Campus Pastor-has a goal of 102 volunteer positions filled by the launch date. There are a lot of positions filled on that list, but there is still a long way to go.
Over all, this could be a potentially sad thing. The people going to Ballantyne will be every bit a part of Next Level Church as me (I'm staying at the Matthews Campus), but it is true that I won't get to see them nearly as often. I'll see some of them in my Life Group, but by and large I won't see many of their faces every single Sunday. However, here's why I'm actually glad to see them go: people who commit to go to Ballantyne are doing two things, 1) They are creating empty seats for people disconnected from God and His Church to fill at Matthews and 2) They are, in effect, moving an empty seat 15min. closer to their disconnected friends in Ballantyne!
It's important to note that this is not an "us" and "them" thing. We are one church meeting in multiple locations. What affects one part of the body affects the whole body, right? Well, if you are staying in Matthews here's what you can do. Honor the people heading to Ballantyne by inviting your disconnected neighbors, co-workers, family, and friends to fill the empty seats the Ballantyne people are creating. God is doing a God-sized thing here at Next Level and if there's one thing you can say about the people of NLC it's that they are up for God-sized projects!
