Friday SOAP: What I Want For YOU

Scripture
"For though I am far away from you, my heart is with you. And I rejoice that you are living as you should and that your faith in Christ is strong" - Colossians 2:5

Observation
This reveals much about the heart of a pastor - that he rejoices when people grow strong in their faith and live lives that honor Christ.

Application
A pastor's people have his heart. Pastoring is not just about running an "organization". I must LONG for our people to grow stronger in their faith and out of that overflow live lives that please God, bring honor to Him, and advance His mission in the world.

Prayer
Lord, I am learning much about the heart of a pastor in this slow study of Colossians. I am grateful for that. Even with all of the leading, organizing, meeting, and teaching prep to do, never let me forget that the end goal is that people far from God will come home to him and once they have that their faith will be strengthened and their lives honor you. Help me not just to want that, but to long for it! Amen.
