When you were a teenager, maturity probably didn't look like that much fun. But you mature, not because you have to, but because it gains you something. Maybe it gains you something you didn't even know or care about when you were younger. Like providing for your children, or having a great relationship with your spouse. And now that you live this way would you really want to go back to being a teenager?
As we go through our normal everyday lives we may have matured by the world's standards, but have we matured by God's standards? Are we less of a consumer today than we were yesterday? Less materialistic? More joyful, or peaceful?
If you only hit what you aim at, then what are you aiming your life at? Maturity in Christ is attainable and once you get it, you'll never want to go back.
