When Chick Efird told us she had to - reluctantly and sadly - resign her position as Childrens' Pastor at our Blakeney Campus, I was sad too.
I mean, I understood why. She had undergone major surgery and the wear and tear of a set up-tear down environment would not have been wise or sustainable.
I hated to lose Chick at Blakeney, told her so, lamented a little, asked God "Why?" and "What's next?"...and then he revealed the why and the what next for Chick.
We can always count on him for that.
When Chick reluctantly resigned, she had no idea the job of Childrens' Pastor at the Matthews Campus would come open. Neither did we.
But it did, and Chick will take over leadership there on April 1, free from the physical impediments of set up and tear down.
In addition, she will continue to serve as the director of Kid City Weekday Preschool, so she will be a very busy woman.
There is no more respected childrens' ministry professional in the Charlotte area than Chick and I am thrilled to have her at our Matthews Campus.
And I look forward to seeing God's next leader for kids at our Blakeney Campus. Trust me, we are already on the hunt!
And the end of that story - the answer to "Why?" and "What next?" - will be as good as the last chapter!
